England comfortably registered a win in the third and final test match against hosts Pakistan on Day 4 in Karachi to clinch the series 3-0. Ben Stokes and co. had already taken a 2-0 lead before coming to Karachi as they had won in Rawalpindi and Multan, however, the aim was to register a series whitewash against the home side, which is precisely what the newly crowned T20 World Champions did.

On the other hand, after back-to-back losses in the first two matches of the series, Babar Azam were on the lookout to get a result in their favour but they were no match to the English side in the final contest. The Three Lions displayed terrific character since Day 1 and maintained the momentum throughout the contest despite playing on a flat wicket in Karachi. Pakistan got 304 runs on the board in the first innings upon which the English side responded with 354 runs in their innings.

Young leggie Rehan Ahmed spun a web and bagged a fifer against Babar Azam and Co. in the latter’s final innings which killed the game for Pakistan. England bundled out Pakistan for 216 runs, handing the former a target of 167. Day 4 saw a commanding start by the English side as they were cruising to clinch the series with the low scoring target set by the rival side. Ben Duckett and skipper Stokes completed the chase on the fourth morning.

Here’s the updated WTC Points Table after final PAK vs ENG Test series

Australia remain a strong contender for a spot in the summit clash as they are on top with 120 points and percentage points of 76.92.

With England’s dominating win, Pakistan fell to the seventh place with six losses and a percentage points of 38.89. The Three Lions are currently in the fifth place with 46.97 percentage points but have the highest points overall in the table with 124 points following the whitewash.

India, South Africa and Australia are still fighting hard for the two spots in the summit clash of the World Test Championship. It remains to be seen what transpires in India’s and Australia’s bilateral series against Bangladesh and South Africa.
