As per reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be holding their apex council meeting on Wednesday, December 21. The reports further state that the key points for discussion would be the appointment of the new selection committee and the players’ annual central contracts.

Apart from these two points, another important discussion is expected to be related to split captaincy and hiring different coaches for three formats. Meanwhile, it also remains to be seen whether star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will be appointed as India’s full-time T20I skipper with an eye on the T20 World Cup 2024 or not.

BCCI unhappy with the performances of the support staff

As per sources, the BCCI is unhappy with the performances of the Indian team’s support staff i.e. the physio team and the fielding coach T Dilip and thus, there could be some changes in the support staff going forward.

At the same time, there are also rumoured talks about split coaching. While Rahul Dravid might continue as the Test and ODI coach, the cricket board is reportedly planning to hire a new T20I coach in the wake of India’s T20 World Cup 2022 ouster following a humiliating ten-wicket defeat to the eventual champions England in the semis last month.

Earlier, several reports had circulated that the BCCI has zeroed in on MS Dhoni as Team India’s full-time T20I coach with an eye on the next edition of the T20 World Cup which will be played in the Caribbean and the USA in June 2024.

Nonetheless, the sources have also gone on to confirm that India’s performance review based on the T20 World Cup down under and the recent 1-2 ODI series defeat in Bangladesh is currently not a part of the agenda.

Notably, the Men in Blue have lost two successive ODI series in two months. Prior to the Bangladesh series, India had also suffered a 0-1 loss in New Zealand in a rain-curtailed ODI series.
