Bangladesh’s stand-in skipper for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India, Litton Das, seems very optimistic about his team’s chances in the series.

Earlier, Tamim Iqbal, who was set to lead the side, got ruled out due to a groin injury he picked up after which Litton Das was asked to lead the side.

The Bangla Tigers will play a three-match ODI series starting December 4, Sunday, followed by a two-match Test series later this month. Skipper Litton mentioned that they have played well against India of late and also acknowledged their strength.

“We have been playing very competitive cricket against them in recent times. They don’t think us as underdogs and that is a big thing. Our target will be to play for the win. It is possible to fight against them. We have a good balance in all three departments. India are also a strong side. But you have to admit that we are also a good side in our conditions,” said Litton while speaking to reporters at the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Litton also thanked the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for providing him with the opportunity to lead the side. And feels blessed to have senior players like Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Mahmudullah in the team.

“I am thankful to BCB for giving me the opportunity to lead the side in such a big series. I am excited and will try to showcase my ability. Responsibility is also there when you play only as a player. But there will be an added responsibility to guide the side when you are the skipper,” told Litton.

“I am really happy that when I got the chance to lead the side, I have got three experienced cricketers who are playing for 15 years. I will definitely want them to support me and I am assured that whenever I will need anything, the big brothers will come forward and help me out,” he added.
